Based in the coffee-growing regions of Cobán, Acatenango, and Chimaltenango, ASPROGUATE (Asociación Sostenible de Productores de Guatemala) is a farmer association founded in 2014 by a group of 100 organic coffee producers. Created with the goal of providing sustainable and differentiated market access for small producers, the organization has continued to grow over the years while maintaining a strong focus on community development, organic agriculture, and long-term sustainability. Today, ASPROGUATE works with hundreds of smallholder producers across several coffee-growing regions of Guatemala, the majority of whom belong to the Indigenous Cakchiquel and Tz’utujil communities. More than half of its producing members are women, reflecting the association’s ongoing commitment to gender equality, social inclusion, and the empowerment of women within coffee-producing communities. Through partnerships such as Fuerza de Mujer, ASPROGUATE also supports additional training initiatives focused on financial management, health, nutrition, and community wellbeing. Through continuous technical assistance, workshops, and sustainable farming programs led by trained agronomists and field inspectors, ASPROGUATE supports producers in strengthening both farm productivity and coffee quality while maintaining Organic and Fair Trade certifications. Produced in the volcanic highlands of Guatemala and grown primarily with Caturra, Catuai, and Pache varieties, these coffees are known for their balanced cup profile and classic character typical of Guatemalan coffees.
