Behind this lot are the farming families of ACEC (Asociación de Caficultores Ecológicos del Cauca), an organization of small coffee producers located in the department of Cauca, southwestern Colombia. ACEC brings together growers committed to producing certified organic specialty coffees while promoting environmentally sustainable farming practices and rural community development. The association is composed of producers from several municipalities across Cauca, including Caldono, Cajibío, Piendamó, Morales, Popayán, El Tambo, and Timbío. Most families cultivate coffee on small farms averaging 1.5 hectares in size, located at elevations ranging from 900 to 1,650 meters above sea level. The main varieties grown include Castillo, Caturra, Colombia, and Typica. ACEC's mission is to support the social and sustainable development of its members through organic production, responsible commercialization, and continuous improvement in coffee quality. The association also works to strengthen rural communities and expand market opportunities for smallholder producers. ACEC works closely with CAFICAUCA (Cooperativa de Caficultores del Cauca), an organization that provides commercial support, technical assistance, quality control, and market access. Founded in 1961 by a group of coffee growers in Popayán, CAFICAUCA has become one of the region’s leading coffee organizations, serving thousands of producers through an extensive network of purchasing stations and support programs. Cauca’s volcanic soils, high elevations, and favorable climate contribute to coffees known for their balance, sweetness, and complexity. Through the joint efforts of ACEC’s member producers and CAFICAUCA, this coffee reflects both the region’s agricultural potential and a shared commitment to quality and sustainability.
