ANEI is an intercultural organization bringing together more than 800 organic and Fairtrade coffee and cacao families in northern Colombia’s sacred mountains: the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Serranía del Perijá. Its membership includes producers from the Arhuaco, Kogui, Wiwa, and Kankuamo peoples, along with campesino communities farming in a landscape shaped by native shade, rich biodiversity, and varied microclimates. Founded in 1995 by Aurora Izquierdo, an Arhuaco leader from the Yewrwa community and a pioneer in receiving academic training beyond her territory, ANEI was created to strengthen local economies and preserve Indigenous culture—using coffee as a driver of well-being and long-term opportunity. Today, its model connects ancestral legacy with partners who share the same vision. Quality is cared for at every step: selective harvesting, careful processing, controlled drying, and rigorous evaluation before milling, EP-style extra preparation, and final sorting for consistency. From seed to cup, ANEI prioritizes transparency. Its traceability system follows each lot, highlighting community work, sustainable practices, and positive impact across the territory.
