Founded in 2006 in Aceh, Permata Gayo Cooperative emerged after decades of conflict that had displaced many farming families. Following the 2005 peace agreement, 50 farmers from five villages came together to rebuild their coffee farms and created the cooperative as a way to fight poverty and restore rural livelihoods. Today, Permata Gayo brings together producers under democratic, transparent, and environmentally friendly management. The cooperative invests in farmer training, soil and crop improvement, sustainable practices, and financial empowerment for its members. Each cup of coffee from Permata Gayo carries the richness of the Gayo highlands, while telling a story of resilience and collective hope.
