This coffee is produced under the umbrella of the Oromia Coffee Farmers’ Cooperative Union (OCFCU), a second-tier, farmer-owned cooperative union founded in 1999 that brings together numerous cooperatives across Oromia. Through its structured model, OCFCU provides essential services such as agronomic training, farm support, warehouse capacity, and systems for grading, preparation, and export, while also facilitating access to international markets and supporting community development initiatives. This framework enables smallholder producers to benefit from stronger organization and more consistent lot preparation. Sourced from the highlands of the Harar zone, in the Oromia region, this coffee is grown between 1,700 and 2,200 meters above sea level in fertile volcanic soils, where smallholder farmers cultivate indigenous Arabica varieties using traditional methods. Carefully hand-picked, the coffee is washed and dried on raised beds, resulting in a well-prepared Grade 4 lot with low defect levels and consistent quality. In the cup, it offers a clean and balanced profile with bright acidity, medium body, and notes of citrus and spice, reflecting both the character of Harar and the dedication of its producing communities.
