This Robusta Natural lot comes from smallholder farmers across India, where coffee is cultivated under traditional shade systems between 700 and 1,200 meters above sea level. Farms often integrate leguminous and fruit trees, creating a balanced ecosystem that supports both soil health and biodiversity. In many regions, coffee trees grow alongside spices such as pepper and vanilla, a hallmark of India’s diverse agroforestry landscapes. During the harvest season, typically from December to February, farmers carefully handpick ripe cherries. While some process their coffee at home, most deliver the fruit to local washing stations or processing centers, where cherries are laid out to dry on raised beds or patios and raked regularly to ensure even drying. AB denotes a screen size of 90% above screen 15. Processing methods vary from Natural to Fully Washed, depending on the resources and traditions of each community. Though some larger estates use mechanical dryers, most producers rely on sun-drying for optimal flavor development. Today, around 30% of India’s coffee is consumed domestically, while the remaining 70% is exported, reflecting both the country’s strong internal market and its long-standing presence in the global coffee trade.
