Located in the fertile Waghi Valley, near Mount Hagen, Sigri Coffee Estate is one of the most recognized origins in Papua New Guinea. Although the country is a relatively young player in the specialty coffee sector, Sigri has built a long-standing reputation based on consistency, technical management, and traceability. The estate was founded in the 1950s by Tom Cole, a crocodile hunter and coffee farmer, and was later acquired by WR Carpenter Estates. Today, it is part of a group of six estates managed under an integrated structure that oversees cultivation, processing, and direct export, allowing for strict quality control throughout the entire value chain. The coffee is grown at an altitude of approximately 1,525 meters above sea level, on flat, highly fertile soils of volcanic origin. The environment combines regular rainfall with good sunlight, creating ideal conditions for slow and even maturation. Natural shade is provided mainly by Albizzia and Casuarina species, while the Waghi River forms one boundary of the estate. Sigri cultivates exclusively Arabica varieties, primarily Typica and its Blue Mountain lineage hybrids, resulting in a balanced, structured coffee with a clean profile, internationally recognized for its consistency and clarity in the cup.
