This coffee is sourced and milled by Caffex from smallholder producers across key Honduran regions such as Copán, Agalta, Opalaca, and Montecillos. Caffex is a family-owned company based in San Pedro Sula, built on a long-standing coffee legacy that spans over a century. In the early 1920s, Benjamin Caballero, one of the first coffee growers in Santa Bárbara, helped establish one of Honduras’ earliest cooperatives. This foundation was carried forward by Roberto Hawit Castro, who began trading coffee in the 1950s after working in the Montaña de las Flores, gradually building an export operation alongside his family. In 2001, Raúl Hawit and Munir Hawit founded Caffex with a clear focus on specialty coffee and transparent supply chains. Today, Caffex works with more than 9,000 producers, combining long-term relationships with modern milling infrastructure to ensure traceability and consistency. Sustainability remains central to their approach, with around 90% of coffees certified and approximately 30% sourced from women producers, supporting ongoing social initiatives. Through this integrated approach, Caffex delivers reliable, well-prepared coffees that reflect the diversity and potential of Honduran origin. These regions, known for their high elevations and diverse microclimates, contribute to the production of SHG (Strictly High Grown) coffees with clean profiles and balanced structure.
